We can begin by saying that although Egyptian art was based more off of religious factors, the Greeks oriented more towards the Philosophical aspects of art. The non-emotional statues created by Egyptian sculptors although the Greeks explored human anatomy and facial expression which are very important to art concepts in the present day. Greek art also explored many concepts of life such as classical art. Egyptian sculptures had large heads, overdone faces with no expression and Greek's focused heavily on the perfect body. Greek art is that it focused on Humanism and the glorification of man. They exaggerated features like bigger muscles and gave them extra tone better and more appealing than the average man. They explored the naked body as it embodied beauty. The Egyptians stopped once they reached their goal of portraying a human being. The Greeks reach that level and surpassed that. The Greeks seemed to me to be the originators. So they took it further than the Egyptians. They exaggerated features like bigger muscles and gave them extra tone better and more appealing the average man. This is the main reason why i think the Greeks were better not only they master the natural portrayal of man. They gave us super natural power and made us god on earth. The first democracy depicted in time over 4000 years ago. Since these large sculptures were for public display and government sponsored this gave average citizens sense of pride within their communities. "Classical Art" is connected to geometry and symmetry. We owe a lot to Greek, I believe many architects today, could take note from Greek Art without knowing. Being able to send a message throughout a community is what the Greeks did during their time and what many architect do today. We

I wasn’t in class the day we did the drawing of a classmate
so I decided to draw my son; he was in the bathtub. I find it is always so
bright in the bathroom sometime I feel there is a whole different light and
sound that comes from the bathroom. I tried to capture his innocence but while
also capturing his happiness. It was very difficult to draw him because firstly
he was so busy having fun in the bubble bath he would not be still. Another
difficulty I had was I am not a drawer and sometimes I try to make things so perfect,
so half of the time I spend erasing and trying to make everything precise. The
lightest lines were the lines that the light hit the most and the darker lines
were the lines that had more shade. It seemed these lines had more depth so I then
tried to shade them a little heavier or darker.

Ancient Art And
Why Its Non Existent
The movie we watched in
class was very informative; I had no idea how any of the pyramids and the
statues was created back then. I had no idea they UN rolled the ivory to make
these beautiful statues we see today. Even How much of a process that was. It
was very amusing to see how long it took to complete these pyramids. One part
in the movie went in to detail to tell how many men and how may years it took
just to even set a foundation. The many and workers in this movie amused to at
how hard working they were. While watching this video I could only think these
workers woke up every day and worked in the blazing hot sun with no real time
frame on how long it would take them to complete. I think people study ancient
world because those artifact have lasted so long. Which I take that as what
ever it was that they were doing to create these rare artifacts must have work.
People also study it because it’s the unknown, because it was so long ago. I
find it even more amusing how they did it with the least amount of resources.
They did have risers or forklift or even all the fancy tools we have now, I
find that astonishing. I defiantly think this process should teach artist to
appreciate what they take the time out to create. Also teaching artist to
appreciate and use the many recourses we have so assessable to us today. Also by watching this video I learned you
don’t have to rush things also you don’t have to and the most fanciest tools to
create a masterpiece that will last years and years. Some artist start a
portrait, building sketch or even a sculpture and feel they have to start and
finish by a certain time, this is no the case art is supposed be free and at
your own pace. If you want something to last sometimes its best to take your
time and create some thing historical rather than something just for the
moment.

Do Critics Give An Accurate
Description Off What Are Really Is?
While reading “Seeing Out Loud” some
things reconfirmed my thoughts that art critics are not necessary. How can
someone critic art? Art is supposed to be freedom of expression, I’m sure there
are many artists that pay a critic to give them a good review. But then I
wonder how can a critic give a review on what they think that person’s art is.
If art is based from the individual’s perspective how can any critic give a
valid interpretation of that person’s art? So in actuality a review from a
critic is actually just his or she own opinion, and depending if the critic was
paid, knows the artist or will gain notice by reviewing this piece. That will
tell how genuine their review is. I believe
all critics should have some type of degree in that field or be at some level
of expertise. If I were an artist I would find it very uncomfortable to know
the person reviewing my artwork used to be a “truck driver by the name of the Jewish
cowboy”. That person should at least have knowledge of the history of what he
or she is reviewing. Aside from that I feel a critic should have the right to
be as honest as they would like because in the end it is there opinion. An
opinion doesn’t always have to be nice or understood by other people. I agree
with the quote “They praise everything they see, or only describe” Some critics
go with the trend on what is popular. Some critics are so afraid to hurt someone’s
feeling or go against the grain that all the review’s are positive or just end
up describing what they have seen. Which I feel is not fair to the reader art
should be open to many types of interpretation. I should not be censored to
follow some one else’s standard of what art is. In conclusion the reading was
truly a good read and definitely arose a few question. As a people we must
always question what we read is that critic ethical, knowledgeable and even
non-biased.
